The new 6-star energy rating & how to meet it
The Building Code of Australia’s new 6-star energy rating is just around the corner, coming into effect from May 1, 2012 – so planning ahead is key to ensuring your project ticks all the right boxes when it comes to being energy efficient.
Choosing G2 double glazed aluminium windows and doors is one of the easiest ways to meet the new 6-star energy rating for building approval.
A house built to a 6-star standard will use around 20 to 25% less energy to heat and cool, when compared to a similar-sized 5-star house.
In contrast to a conventional single layer of glass, G2’s double glazed windows and doors provide a high star rating by dramatically reducing thermal and acoustic transfer. Reducing the need for artificial heating and cooling means major energy savings in the form of lower energy bills and less carbon emissions. Plus, noise and sound transfer is significantly reduced.
G2 double glazed windows and double glazed doors use double glazing technology and thermal break technology in combination, to create a superior window and door system.
The entire G2 range has been NATA-tested to Australian Standards and is star-rated by WERS (Window Rating Energy Scheme). We are a member of the AWA (Australian Window Association) and all our windows and doors come with a seven-year warranty.
